Amazing AZ Comic Con: Final Day

The days flew by and now our first comic con is over. I can speak for the whole team when I say it was a blast! BIGCHRIS had a few cases of writer's cramp after doing so many sketches at the booth. He did some really cool stuff. We will be posting pictures on the facebook page so be sure to check that out. (On a quick side note - we are thinking about setting up a flickr account to post pics from things like this and BIGCHRIS' latest work. We'd love to know your thoughts on if you think that would be worthwhile).

So back to the Con. There were some moments of frenzied activity where we could barely keep up, and for that we say THANK YOU ALL! We love that stuff! We can't get enough of all of the great fans and friends. The hours flew by because we were having so much fun. We had some really great conversations with old friends, and we had some great conversations with new friends that we met for the first time. I was surprised how many of both vendors and fans were not from AZ. There are a lot of "die-hards" who consider the comic world an integral part of their life. After absorbing my first con, I think I get where they're coming from. There was an energy that was pretty hard to match throughout the entire weekend.

The highlight of the con was when we gave away the custom BIGCHRISART guitar on the final day. We were amazed at the size of the crowd that swarmed around our booth. There was such a great energy and so many people we decided on the spot to throw in a few more give-aways. So we drew names for a couple prints and Bad Ace King of Hearts shirt. The big moment was when we drew for the guitar. The lucky winner was Austin West. Congratulations Austin!

We haven't crunched the numbers yet so I can't say for sure how we fared, but I am pleased over all. We definitely had some great activity at the booth and moved a lot of inventory and BIGCHRIS created a lot of art for people. We had a pretty high cost to cover going into this since it was our first con and had to buy all our booth materials, t-shirt inventory etc. so it is not reasonable to expect to recoup all of that in one event, but I think we took a good-sized bite out of it. Regardless of how the profit numbers look BIGCHRIS and I have already talked about doing some more cons. We are going to sit down and decide which ones we will try to go to this year. We may be back on the con circuit as early as next month. Stay tuned for an update on the "2012 BIGCHRISART Comic Con Tour".

We plan to keep this site fresh with new blog posts and updates. We don't even consider it done yet so check back in a few days to watch it take shape, and keep coming back to see the latest updates and information!
